Most of the coil's inductance comes from mutual coupling between
turns. The wire itself contributes a small self inductance, which
increases as the current is confined to a smaller cross-section.
A small effect, I think.

Only politicians and cranks can never say "hey, I'm wrong". Seems
ordinary folks like us have a built in error rate, hence the need
for a critical forum like this - and a willingness to be criticised.
