RE: [TCML] 7.5V 52A Filament Transformer for 3CX3000 Needed

Hi Cameron, Use a good sized MOT core. You only need 375 watts of xmfr.
A large MOT is 5-6 hundred watt core. MOT's only have 100 turns of
primary winding. As such they saturate at 80-90 volts. I saw em where
they are welded, make a wood form, wind new coils, slip whole mess back
on core and weld it back up. Use 180 turns of 16-18 gage wire for the
primary. If you want to be fancy, you could put several taps on the
primary. Not really much more work. Maybe at 175, 178, 180, 183, etc.
Insulate between the windings with masking tape (paper tape). Use 12-13
turns of #6 (ct'ed) for the secondary. The filament winding is at ground
potential so insulation is easy. I have made several of these for
various toob coils. I'd post of a few pictures of this process but
Pupman doesn't take attachments. I use a 3cx3000 in my large toob coil.
Be sure to use the low mu version. James

Hey guys,

Does anyone have a 7.5V 52A filament transformer they¹d be willing to
part
with?

We actually need two if available. Please contact me off-list.

Thanks,
Cameron
