RE: [TCML] Coils at Maker Faire
Very cool, Greg! Thank you for sharing your efforts with us. Any
approximate idea how much power your "robbing" to motivate your "Tesla
Roadster" chair?
I like it,
Hank

Subject: [TCML] Coils at Maker Faire
Hi All,
It was good to meet the small handful of Bay Area coilers that made it
to Maker Faire this year. Here's a clip of the solid-state twin coils
producing ~18ft arcs, at about 7kW throughput:

Here's a close-up of our new 'Tesla Roadster' with Mike Kennan at the
wheel. The roadster has no batteries; the motive power comes from an
onboard 'reverse Tesla coil' that extracts energy from the ambient
electric field when the coils are energized:

Note that the coils are set not to breakout for this demo, as the arcs
tend to steal considerable power from the machines. Two other smaller
machines can be seen twirling around in the background. They also use
the same reverse Tesla coil system for motive power. GL
