Re: [TCML] Nearly First Firing
Hello.
You said>>
"... I now have 19 in parallel giving me .02uF give or take and my NST
needs .01989uF for complete resonance so it should be OK. "
I know that website you refer to recommends to use a resonant value for the
caps, but it is generally considered to be a bad idea now. Your NST won't
live very long if you do. Most go for X2 or X2.5 the resonant value. Which
of course means more caps <smile>
6 strings of 15 caps would give you 18.8 nF (@ 22.5Kv), which is just
slightly under, but still not a good idea.
I was also thinking about using the RS caps Part Number: 114-474
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct
&R=0114474
as well to supplement my CD 942's I have, (the dollar/pound rate is terrible
otherwise I would go for more CD 942's)
But looking in the specifications for the RS caps I was not sure if they
would handle the current?
You should not be getting 30 odd ohms across the MMC though if just the caps
and bleed resistors (10 Meg ohms?) are in the circuit

Phil
