A The OLTC, SISG, and bigger brothers, BRISG and T-BRISG are all solid state, however distinctly disruptive. :-)

I prefer to classify these systems as:
- A regular Tesla coil, or any other system where the energy is first put in a capacitor or an inductor (induction coil) and then passed to the output after the operation of a switch, or spark gap, is operating with the "zero input response" of the system. All the waveforms are consequence of initial conditions when the switch operates. - A "Solid-state Tesla coil", or any other system where there is an AC power supply always connected to the system during the energy transfer to the output, is operating with the "zero state response" of the system. All the waveforms are consequence of the input, and no initial energy is stored on the elements. - A third category is of oscillators, as the VTTCs, where an active, dissipative, and nonlinear element is part of the circuit.
