That sounds like the express mail price. Clearly, when sending many kilos of iron, copper, and insulation, surface mail is what's needed. A quick check shows that $40 is what it costs to send a 20 pound parcel from US to Australia..On Mon, 2009-12-21 at 17:34 -0500, Paul Brodie wrote:Maybe neon sign transformers are better but I got this OBIT for $20 and I've already built 2 neon sign transformer coils and as the Monty Python players said, "and now for something completely different!"I just checked on ebay for a neon transformer. It was also $20 but they wanted $168 postage to Australia. My tesla interests will have to wait.
The typical ebay seller isn't interested in researching international shipping, so they usually just go to the DHL or FedEx website and get the numbers from there.
Some years ago, I was trying to arrange shipping for 4 swags from Australia to the US, and it was a royal pain to figure out how to do it without costing a fortune. These days, it's not like you can just put stuff in a big box and go down to the post office and stamp it "surface mail"
or find a domestic source for your NST. There's several australian coilers on the list, so maybe one of them will come up with an idea.
