RE: [TCML] 60ma Coil Discharge - comments welcome
I am varnishing the coil now - just done the second coat.
The strike rail is actually held on with masking tape, there is no metal on the supports - this is why I thought the corona was strange.
I will be moving the strike rail and increasing the "decoupling" further (we already raised the secondary 1/2")

I agree with Bert, lower the rail, flip it to the outside of those supports.
Almost looks like you're using u-bolts to connect it to the supports. Use
something insulated like zip-ties or wire holders. Also make sure it is
perfectly smooth in radius and also in a flat plane as related to the
primary.
Nice output!

This is a picture of our coil with the 'new' 60ma NST with 135uF run
capacitors.
You can see one of the flashes (possibly caused by lint) and a strange
corona running like 4 searchlights from the top of the strike rail
supports (insulated) up to the toroid - we've never seen that before -
anyone know what is causing it?
I'll clean and varnish the coil and take another picture when it's
ready.
