RE: [TCML] rsg pulsing
I had exactly the same problem with my 1800 rpm 120-bps sync gap.
It had problems locking to the AC waveform. Building a phase controller fixed the locking problems immediately and also allowed for 55 degrees of phase shift to get the gap dialed in correctly.
Here's a test before:

go forwards to about 25 seconds.
You can clearly see pulsing.
...and then a test after adding the phase controller:

at about 1:10.
It's a low power coil, but it does show the difference.

Yes the motor is fully adjustable via a industrial dc motor controller. I
tried slowing it down but after decreasing the speed about 15% the spark
length decreased dramatically. The spacing of the electrodes is pretty
normal so i do not think that is a problem. Also the disk has 8 electrodes
so 1800rpm is 240bps. I want to try slowing it up to 120bps but it seems
that it puts everything way out of tune.
