If you use a flyback, be sure to use "fast recovery" HV diodes.  If running
a 60 Hz NST then normal HV diodes are fine.

I have compact doorknob style 10 kV caps that work well with
Cockkroft-Walton multiplier circuits.  Contact me off-list if interested.
