RE: [TCML] Primary to Strikerail arc.
Arcing anywhere it's not supposed to be is a problem. Do you have several unused primary turns between the tap point and the outside end of the primary coil? This will act like an autotransformer, boosting the voltage on the outside end to something problematically high. You'll need to trim off any excessive unused turns, leaving just a couple for future adjustments.
