Hello Gary, I hope it is clear that I mean transistor not transformer as an ac transformer already exists, however ac transistors are some thing new.

Is it possible that Reuben is actually talking about a transformer, rather than a transistor?  That would make a good deal more sense.  It certainly would not be his first typo or terminology problem!
