Hey Jim...I tried to roll out a length of copper tubing with a set of rollers made for "curving" flat plate ( I removed the 3rd roller and used the 2 feed rollers). The need to keep the rollers PERFECTLY paralell is paramount. If the rollers are even a couple of thou out of paralell, the tubing starts to curve to the left or right becoming more banana shaped than a straight strip. Plus it work hardens the strip making it even more difficult to form into a primary coil. Just maybe, if one were to not completely flatten the tubing but just reduce the shape to a near flat sided tube, it may be easier to use the roller process...

Hi Group, Has anyone ever tried to make a jig to roll tubing through a set of steel rollers or smooth pipe rollers spaced to take advantage of flat pancake and retain a rounded edge to reduce corona? Ha ha, maybe a flatbed and a lawn roller full of oil would work :-^) Rounded ribbon is expensive.
