is it possible to mount the 4 electrodes on a rotatable platform and use that as the advance timing?keep the motor running and rotate the 4 stationary electrodes by say no more than 45 to 90 degrees?

	Answer is yes and precedent goes back to early days of "wireless".  Hams who could afford it sometimes used synchronous rotary gaps and could adjust gap timing "for maximum good".  Those transmitters used up to 25,000 volts with 0.01 ufd mica primary capacitors to "get down to 200 metes" [up to 1500 kHz] by using a single turn ribbon primary.  Peak powers were enormous and "kickback" into most electrical apparaus connected to the local power line was very troublesome and "kickback preventers", center tapped capacitors across the power line and grounded at the center, were used.  Fortunately there were no solid-state garage door openers in those days.
