Re: [TCML] SRSG new video - feedback welcome
Steve and Pete,
Sounds to me like it's not actually synchronous. It's close
to sync, so it's phasing in an out with the incoming 60 or
50Hz AC power sine wave. That causes the pulsing sound
I can't remember what you
said in the past about verifying synchronous operation, etc.
But it certainly doesn't sound like it's running as a sync motor.
Maybe it's just an induction motor? If it's a modified induction
motor, it may be failing to truly lock up to the power line
frequency. I think that's your problem. A regular induction
motor is not synchronous and will never sync unless it's
properly modified and not mechanically over-loaded by
a too-heavy rotor.
Cheers,
John

Subject: [TCML] SRSG new video - feedback welcome

This is another video of our attempts at setting the phase of our SRSG.
It's getting better, but still a little bumpy.
Are we close? Or is there something else wrong with gap spacing etc...?
Thanks
Steve and Pete
