It seems that part of the confusion is that the terms voltage, power, and
energy, are being thrown about somewhat interchangeably. Power is a rate
of transfer of energy. Total Energy in = Total Energy out is valid under
all conditions. Power in = Power out is only true for steady state
conditions and a classic TC is 99.999+% transients. While it is true that
Instantaneous power = Instantaneous voltage x Instantaneous current, the
values are different at every point in a TC system and vary from
nanosecond to nanosecond.
