Congratulations James! The first sparks of your life are the best! Now
the fun begins, optimizing and optimizing and optimizing. My first coil
did 8" at first, and after a number of modification it evolved to to make
46". I had a lot of fun with that first coil. My latest coil is making
10 feet, but nothing beats the up close and personal experiance a smaller
coil can give. Face to face with sparks - ya gotta love it.

Have fun and keep sparkin!

Curt.

After 11 months of learning and experimenting I have finally got a TESLA
COIL working I realise it's "small beer" and inefficient - at 6Kv and 32mA I
should get 26" sparks but can only manage 16-18 "
The Secondary coil - 3.5 dia 1200 turns of .0011 inch wire has a spigot on
the bottom and fits into a receptacle on the base board ( all some form of
plumbing /gas C-H boiler fittings) This means I can easily take the
secondary coil off for transporting the coil The spark gap is static and
made from copper backed cont actors faced
with solid silver buttons - salvaged from a fork lift truck.
The big top load is two dog feed bowls, back to back, a ring of foam, pipe
insulation covered with s/a Al foil

THANKS TO ALL ON THIS LIST AND TCBOUK for your help _ ESPECIALLY Terry
Fritz
