Hi Bart,
Yes the 2007 Cheesehead Teslathon was great. This was the first one that
I was able to attend. Thanks for the kudos on my Green Monster ;^) Act-
ually, the video that I sent you of my coil running in my small garage back
in 2000 was my Medusa coil. It was ran by a 10 kVA pig and was indeed
powerful but not quite as big and powerful as Green Monster. Medusa was
equipped with a 10" x 38 1/2" secondary coil where GM has a 12 1/2" x
49" long secondary coil. Of course GM's toroid is also much larger (12 x
56) than Medusa's was (9 x 30). Medusa spewed out 8 to 10 footers but
GM does 12 to 14 footers ;^) I have relocated since the Medusa "days"
and have since dismantled Medusa. I built GM since moving to my current
residence nearly 5 years ago. I now have a double garage to "play" in, but
firiing GM inside of this garage is out of the question, as the garage is attached
to my home and the burgular alarm system control panel is just inside the door
leading from the garage to the house. Trying to fire the big coil even at the
most reduced output possible absolutely plays havoc on my home's alarm
system and other sensitive electronics in the house. I really need an extra
detached garage building in my back yard for big coil firing, kind of like
Ed Wingate's for his maggie or Phil Rhembold's (spelling?) in the Ft. Worth
area for his Worthog coil. Hopefully, I will be able to build myself a decent
sized external garage, with high ceilings :^), in my back yard within the next
few years. Money is the only issue that's currently holding me back on that.
$;^($
