On my first MMC, I boomed a CD cap as well. It was a single string of
like 15 caps. Nice large hole in the side of the cap. I had more of a
"pop" than a "boom", but still, dead is dead. I rebuilt the MMC for 3
strings and never again had a failure. I suspected current was the cause
but didn't investigate the failure like I should have. CD caps are not
fool proof. It's either current or voltage that kills them. I think I
was also using a 12/60 (unmodified) at the time as well.
Take care,
Bart
