Re: [TCML] pig Jacobs

In the realm of the power levels that are being described here -- 50 amps at 240 VAC, you should never assume that any critical part will fail in a favorable way. This sort of circuit must be controlled by a reliable, well overrated industrial contactor that can be remotely controlled in case of an emergency situation, and the breaker driving it must also be suitable rated. Circuit breakers, switches, and relay contacts have been known to weld themselves closed during high amp faults, and you don't want to be trying to pull a dryer plug out of the wall when it's carrying 12 kilowatts of power.

Yea, 50+ amps is high for a JL , but, if ya wanna see the big , thick plasma ( ? ) , ya gots too :-)
Oh, if the element fails , this would be an 'open' circuit , woulnt it ?? it would just turn off ?
