I got my 18 x 52 wound former made at a plastics place out of polypropylene
3mm I think with 6mm flanges and ?15mm topload/motor supports. Cost $250,
weighs aboput 9kg.
Lighter than PVC and has various trimmings. Only problem was that
polypropylene is a bit slippery when winding.

For all of you guys that make the big secondary tubes (I suppose big would
mean bigger than 1 foot in diameter?) Do you use PVC, or do you have some
clever scheme for making them out of other materials, like fiberglass or
something like that?
