Have you checked the nameplate on the transformer can?
 It may indicate which lead to ground for "Y" service.

In some transformers, it may not matter which one you
ground.  AFAIK, a transformer wound on "C" core (one
big iron donut), often has half of the HV winding on
one "leg" of the core and one half on the other. 
Hence, neither HV lead would necessarily be closer to
the core or the can.

In any event, opening pigs is usually not a terrible
thing, and it ought to be pretty easy to see what lead
goes where from a glance down into the oil.  No need
to drag the poor beast out or anything! :-)
