Folks-

    And I'll vouch that the pole transformer I got from Resonance 
Research a few years ago is a very nice unit. A little "pole wear", 
but perfect internal condition and works fine. 14.4 kV (switchable to 
7.2kV), 10kVA.
    I don't know *how* exactly they build pigs so darn well, but 
they are nigh indestructible. I read that there's a new initiative to 
phase in even more efficient distribution transformers all over the 
US for vast energy savings. I can't imagine how they expect to 
justify the increased initial cost, the way materials prices are 
going. Maybe they'll just buy them all from China, at reduced quality 
or safety margins.
