Subject: 9" Pancake Coil, 9600 BPS Rotary Gap:  12" plus discharges

Hey all,

A latest test of that 9" Pancake Coil.  I replaced the simple spark gap with 
a rotary gap.  The discharges were over a foot long, and arc-overs began to 
form along the top of the Pancake.  The whole coil will need to be 
oil-filled.  The gap was not fully opened, and the input power was a little 
less than 1 KW.  I am going to refine this a bit and see what can happen.  I 
want to shoot for hot 12 - 16" discharges at 1500 watts.

This test and photos were all done in the matter of 10 minutes time.  "See 
if the concept works, it does, lets go from there!"...

There is a short movie and also a full scale photo that approximates (at 
least on my monitor) actual size.  For reference the secondary coil is 
exactly 9" in diameter.
