The amount of "Tesla coil induced failure" research that we performed on
behalf of Mercedes-Benz was staggering. We spent days on a Manhattan Beach
sound stage pounding Toyotas and Mercedes-Benz cars with power levels up to
25kVA (higher power levels that were eventually used at the car show in New
York - video at www.teslacoil.com).

The hard data is not available but I CAN say that the likelihood of damaging
automotive electronics without actually striking the car with an arc is very
low; probably nil. I think you're off the hook... ;-)

Later model cars are more susceptible to direct arc strike damage than older
model cars probably because of a higher "chip count".
