Good comment if set screws are used directly in the GPO-3. However, I used
threaded brass rods through the GPO-3 with brass nuts on each side. A hole
was bored through the brass rod through which the tungsten electrode rods
were inserted. A set screw through one of the brass nuts and the brass rod
securely held the tungsten rod. So the only forces on the GPO-3 were
distributed compression forces from the two brass nuts, and that is not a
problem.
My RSG is 12 inch diameter with 12 electrodes through the GPO-3. I have
never experienced a problem although I haven't run more than about 3 KVA
through it.

Hi Steve,
While electrical grade fiberglass will work and is considerably cheaper
than G-10, from my personal experience, it is NOT as good as G-10
for this purpose. I did originally use the GPO-3 electrical grade fiber-
glass for my rotary disc for my large coil. I used set screws to hold the
flying electrodes inplace and the fiberglass was too structurally unsound
to allow the set screws to be tightened down firmly without the threading
stripping out. Once I changed over to G-10, this problem completely dis-
appeared.
