Justin -

Why not just buy them yourself directly from a Cornell-Dubilier distributor,
rather than paying someone else's marked-up price?

On the C-D website is a "capacitor search" link that allows you to input the
capacitor part number that you are looking for. It then provides a link to
the capacitor datasheet, but also provides a link to check stock status
("avail stock"). This will then provide a link to C-D's distributors, with
the quantity on hand. For instance, C-D lists 486 of these capacitors
available now, with 2,336 being available by May 4th.

As far as distributor's stock, Richardson electronics is the only supplier
currently shown with any stock, and they are only showing 7 pieces. However,
if you place an order for 50 or more caps Richardson will quickly obtain
them from C-D. Generally, they will be drop-shipped directly from C-D.

You mention that you are looking to purchase "somewhere between 60 and 100
caps". If you don't know exactly how many caps you need, then it sounds like
you really don't have your coil designed yet. You need to complete your
design calculations FIRST, before you start randomly purchasing parts. You
should know the ratings of your HV transformer, the value of your tank
capacitor, the inductance and physical configuration of both your primary
and secondary coils, and the size and physical shape of your topload before
you buy anything. Most of the problems people encounter when building a
Tesla coil are caused by NOT completely designing the coil on paper first.
Simply obtaining "parts", and thinking that somehow the system will be able
to be tuned to obtain resonance without actually knowing the exact
electrical parameters of the component parts is the number one cause of
Tesla coils "not working".

I need somewhere between 60 and 100 of the 942C20P15K caps. Does anyone
on the list have that many they'd like to sell me?

Thanks,

Justin
