Original poster: Yurtle Turtle <yurtle_t@xxxxxxxxx> I just learned something interesting at work today. We had a fairly large GE motor crap out at work. Apparently, after GE rewinds the motor, they hook it up to a power source and place a 1"-2" steel ball in the windings. I'm told the ball will spin around the inside of the windings, and will fall where there are problems with the laaminations. Adam
