RE: Toriod ? Bendaway_Plus, stainless, titanium stabilized, low iron, smaller diameter

Excellent point. A cusery google rates 316 stainless at composition <paste>
Fe, <0.03% C, 16-18.5% Cr, 10-14% Ni, 2-3% Mo, <2% Mn, <1% Si, <0.045% P,
<0.03% S
-Low iron anyway. I think I would reduce to 8 or 10 inch minor diameter, it
is expensive! How smooth is the outside? They are 100 mi from me. I think
I'll call and get bend radius' for different diameters. I'm more interested
in the umbrage (shielding) then the slight increase in capacitance.
Anyone know the effects of low fe stainless at 60+ KHZ ?
Thanks,
Jim Mora

I can't help but address the issue of steel for a toroid. You want
aluminum,
copper or perhaps brass. I've made exceptional toroids from 6' lengths of
al
ducting from Home Depot with a 1/8" al circular piece in the middle attached
with al tape - cost was under $75.00 and that device has kept intact for
over 5
years. The best, of course, is a smooth toroid from, oh, say, O.W.
Landergren
who has been making toroids since 1927 and have that process down to a rote
procedure.
