Hi Russ,
    The best size wire is probably a matter of opinion.  Many would 
say choose the size that would give you somewhere between 1200 to 
1500 turns and at a winding length between 20 and 25 
inches.   Usually 24 - 28g wire will fit this range.   There is no 
set rule for this.   A possible place to buy some would be a local 
motor winding shop, or look online and shop around.

I was just wondering what the best wire size would be to wrap a 5 "
secondary coil with.
and if any of yall know where a cheap place to buy it from.
