RE: A combined Pancake and Conical Secondary Coil - in operation!

Gary,
This coil is part of a large floor model Tesla demonstration unit that I'm building. The unit uses a special adjustable capacitor to tune every coil in a platform. The power supply consists of two microwave oven transformers with primaries in anti-parallel and sercondaries in series for 4000V. There is a reactance coil rated for 10A, and a variac that is wired like a tapped-reactance coil to limit the current from 0 - 10A in tiny increments.

The primary is 3 turns of 12 AWG, secondary 200 of 30AWG.

The capacitor is adjustable from .001 mfd to .128 mfd in .001 mfd increments. More on this in another posting...its a special design I made for tuning things where the primary coil is embedded in wax (and unable to tune!).

The toilet rings are messy, but believe it or not one of the best electrical insulators for Tesla Coils.... they are wax and oil, better dielectric than wax and less messy than oil! They don't absorb humidity, won't melt in summer, and won't crack in winter. (Well, granted, Florida winters don't count!)
