Hi,
This nice page should help:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/teslatutorial/index.htm
Here are the usual formulas:

Bart has the super calculator here:
http://www.classictesla.com/java/javatc.html
Rotary coils are "tuned" the same as regular coils. Sync rotary gap
coils just tend to have a larger primary cap. You probably want an
"MMC" cap instead of trying to make one unless you already have it all started.

I think most of us use the size of secondary that "just looks
right". John has some nice tips here:

This page says a lot too:

How would you tune a coil with a rotary gap, how do you calculate
the number of turns and the gauge for the primary and the secondary,
how do you calculate the size of the pvc pipe for the secondary, and
how do you calculate the proper size of the capicator, as well as
where are god equations to find the capicatence of a home built
capicator made og shhet metal as well as glass?
