Re: discharge sphere?

Hi,
Sure! Those stainless steel gazing balls are fine.
http://hot-streamer.com/temp/Old2001Files/2001-04/Orb.jpg
The metal is roughly 1/16 inch thick so they are pretty light. The
steel is very hard so they don't dent easily. Not as perfectly
shaped electrostatically as a toroid, but they are cheap and easy
"nice" terminals. They are pretty scratch resistance and can be
wiped clean easily. The surface is mirror polished with small
distortions and where the two halves were welded but they polish all
that out in a final step so you don't notice.
I used to get them here:

But the link is dead now. But they are common if you search
around. Be careful of the price since the fancy home center stores
have a high markup on them.
Cheers,
Terry

Would It be possible for the discharge sphere to be a gazing ball
and if so what is the thickness of the metal.
