Re: Using IGBTs in place of Bipolars

First problem I can thinkof with this is that flyback circuits work
by core saturation. Conventional coils with an air core will never
saturate (igbt will go up in smoke pretty quick).

Subject: Using IGBTs in place of Bipolars
Original poster: Daniel Kline <daniel_kline@xxxxxxxxxxx>
Possibly lame question:
Does anyone think it would be possible to wire up a circuit such as this one:
http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/lab/5322/fbt1.htm
http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/flybkrf1.gif (without the laser)
using IGBTs in place of the bipolars and using a conventional
primary/secondary coil-system in place of the flyback.
Thanks,
Dan K.
