It's actually 12470, not 12740. 12470 is three phase.
That means you get 12470 from phase to phase, and 7200
from phase to ground. I'm assuming you're asking about
a 12470 Y/7200 120/240 pig. Unless you have 3 phase in
your house, you can only get 7200 out feeding it 240.
Some will also do 14400 like mine:
