Re: Power output loss

No, your toploads are well sized. My particular coil had an
undersized topload, so that was a natural direction. Something I
didn't mention is that I could repeat the situation simply by putting
the old toroid back on.
I've read your other reply's as well. The wood primary isn't the best
of ideas. I've been using them forever, but I have had problems with
tracking. I eventually slipped a plexi strip between primary and
wooden runner to increase proximity. New primary however will be all plexi.
The fan may be your actual problem. Maybe you are simply overheating.
Can your run a your 80V setting for a long time or does spark length
diminish quite a bit (say 30 seconds of running)? If so, heat may be
your issue.
Take care,
Bart

Thanks for your thoughts Bart. I had thought I already had a pretty
sizeable topload setup. A 6X24 and a 6X20 separated by about 12".
Would you go bigger still? I seemed to have had it tuned &
operating pretty well with this combination. The problem has
surfaced only recently. Dennis Hopkinton MA
