I do have the TVSs and decoupling caps on each IGBT. I guess that is
why they are still alive.
You dont really have capacitors across *each* IGBT do you? That
would be terribly lossy as the caps would discharge through the IGBTs
each time they turned on.
Maybe you dont understand, but you really *must* use the reverse
diodes on the IGBTs!

So that coil should be good to 58" sparks or so.
