Use high voltage insulating spray from McMaster-Carr. It's in a spray can and only costs $3.65 per can!! 3-5 light coats on coil after winding. 2-3 light coats on sanded coilform before winding. Be sure to sand and spray inside of coilform as well. Also, use 1/4 inch acrylic interior bafffles approx 3-4 inches up inside of interior of coilform.

The covering is enamel for its high temperature/high resistance characteristics. The different mail order electronics companies will sell you anti corona paint(it is chemically covalent), I use model airplane dope(paint).

Hi, you know the glue type coating that covers the thin wire on MOT's and other transformers? what is that and do you need to coat the secondary coil with it? Thanks
