Hi: Jim-b
Dead soft tubing can be easily wound around cylindrical objects such
as 5 ga. buckets etc. We weave nylon rope to space out the windings
and saturate the rope with polyester resin.
Spiral windings can be made by wrapping the tubing around a disk
sandwiched between two sheets of plywood. The sandwich trick requires
a very tight fit and very stiff plywood or the windings will climb
over one another. Springback is considerable for both methods so start
with excess windings and trim to suit.
You can secure the tubing to the form with a sheet metal screws or
bolts and remove this small blemished piece when finished.
Both methods are quick and can produce primaries that have exceptional
fit and finish.
Good luck from Jared Dwarshuis, Larry Morris
