Original poster: "Peter Terren" <pterren@xxxxxxxxxxxx>When the "mylar is no good" issue comes up, I usually like to give the link to my site gives an alternative viewpoint. It shows two mylar caps that have run for 20 years in a museum display coil originally designed by Stan Deyo. In my upgrade, I still kept the mylar caps but added a similar value MMC made of Geek type caps.
http://tesladownunder.com/Tesla%20display.htm#SpecificationsI would be interested to know of other similar caps of such lifespan of any type.

Original poster: Terry Fritz <vardin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>I doubt "mylar" will work. The dielectric heating of mylar in an MMC will be dramatic. You need to us polypropylene as the dielectric. There is no other option.http://hot-streamer.com/TeslaCoils/MMCInfo/good-bad.txt Cheers, Terry
