Hi,
"VA" is voltage multiplied buy current. Literally "volt amps". The
VA rating is often used in high power equipment when they don't care
about power factors or any subtle power issues. They just want to
know just what the biggest voltage X current is to be sure that the
transformer or what ever will be "big enough" no matter what. VA
also sometimes comes up in AC power equations where voltage is
multiplied by current without regard to phase.
One could also think of it is the maximum possible power.
