Re: brass fasteners

Hi Justin,

I would use wood pegs. I always try to keep metal to a minimum around the primary. Tesla did speak about corona on screws/nails near coils, and also of having them heat up. I use this criteria: If it is needed for conductivity or strength, then use metal. Otherwise use nonmetalic means to attach the parts.

Is it safe to use brass bolts and nuts to secure the primary coil's wooden frame
to a wooden base?

My understanding is that the magnetic field won't affect the brass the way
ferrous metals would, but is there still concern regarding the electric field and
jumping sparks?

Thanks for any comments,

Justin
