Re: electrical fx recordings (fwd)

I had a sound engineer from Microsoft come to my house to record Tesla and Jacob's ladder audio. Some of those sounds were used in an xbox game, Mechassault 2. Must be catching on.

Is there anyone in CA that would be interested in helping him out? He's
not on the list so contact him directly.

Subject: electrical fx recordings

Hello Chip,

Just a shot in the dark here... I've been looking around on the Internet
and came across your site. Your the first person I've tried to contact
actually. My name is Brad Aldredge. I work for SCEA, Sony Computer
Entertainment America, maker of Playstation, Playstation2, and PSP hardware
and software. I am a sound designer, the guy who makes all the sound
effects for the games. I need to record the sound of Electricity for our
SFX library. Basically, I need someone with access to Tesla coils,
VandeGraphh generators or other to make big sparks and big electrical
sounds while I record the sounds. I can compensate with brand new PS2
and/or PSP games, Sony PSPs and playstations, etc.

Would you know anybody in Southern California, somebody from your mailing
lists perhaps, who you could get me in touch with? Or would you have any
suggestions on how I could obtain big electrical sound effects? I really
am looking for BIG fx, not just little sparks. I don't want to have to buy
and/or build expensive elaborate electrical devices. I'd much rather just
find someone who has access to this stuff and hire them as a sort of
contractor for a day. That way I can concentrate on just the recordings.

Can you point me in the right direction by chance? Again, this is really a
shot in the dark. Sorry if I've wasted your time.

Have a great day, and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
