Hi Dave,
The "background impedance of the universe", to me, sounds like the
"intrinsic impedance of free space" (a vacuum) which is defined as sqrt
(u0/eo) = 377 ohms. Don't know if these are the same, but if not then that
might be a source of disagreement.
