On side of the "O" is a first primary which connects to two of the input
three phases. On the side is a second primary connected between the third
phase and an apparent center tap of the first primary.
The hook-up you described sounds like a Scott-T transformer (for converting
three phase to two phase) But these are usually made with two separate
cores. I think they can also be made on a three-limb core but not sure.
