Hi Steve,

I was going to ask you the same thing only with a 6-7' chunk of 15" PVC sewer pipe.

Hi Mike,

As to arcing to the power lines, i was really referring to the 240V
lines that run across our yard. I wouldnt dare get close to a high
tension line!

As to the giant coil, yes, the idea has come up several times. Im in
the Chicago area, and there are some other coilers around here. One
of them has a 2x8 foot secondary (currently in storage). We have
talked about the idea of me building a driver for the giant coil. He
has a friend with some land and something like a 200A service to a
barn, it would really be an ideal situation to attempt this. I have
the CM600 IGBTs that Terry sent me some time ago, and i have actually
fabricated a bridge out of them. The major problem is lack of time
(not particularly a problem for me, but for the other people who would
be involved). Our hope would be for 16 foot streamers mimimum, but up
to 24 feet might be possible with a secondary of that size. IGBT's
should not be a limiting factor ;-). For a first go at it, i can
easily remove the drive electronics from my large DRSSTC. Jimmy Hynes
thinks that my current bridge could handle driving a giant coil, but
im not quite as confident. I do think that i could get 16 feet from
my existing driver, though.

Maybe some day...

Steve
