Hello Again,
I am planning rebuilding my primary which at present is 15 < with a two inch
arc space, which has worked well with a 15/120 and a resonant cap and blown
gap.
I don't want the hassle of building another angled primary. Since I am going
to be running up to DC10KVA and up to 500 BPS, will such a coil benefit with
a pancake 3/8 tube with like spacing and a 1.5" arc space? The secondary is
a 8.25" 35.5" 22AWG. I seem to remember Richard Quick or some one post that
the aspect ratio to fully envelope the coil should be around 2/3? In this
case it comes out to ~ 26" but is taped at 10.85 with a 40NF Beefy MMC cap
using Java Tesla.
What performance gains has been noticed with a 3/8 verses a 1/4 primary.
Also I notice a drop to.135 coupling which is to be expected.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
