I might give it ago as well, I'd imagine having lots of capacitors in parallel would yield better performance than series capacitors due to the lower resistance to the primary inductor. If you make the primary coil really thick and use sheet copper above and below the bottles then wouldn't you have a really good low loss circuit? What is the conductivity of saturated salt water? How do series vs parallel capacitor banks compare, or are the effects mostly negligible and not worth the effort compared to 4 strings of 20 MMCs?
