I've been able to get close to 5 inch sparks to my hand using a model t
coil. I fullwave rectify the current coming from the coil and then add the
traditional tank circuit, I use no topload for it. I've also driven a small
magnifier setup using the same t coil with rectified output. They're very
easy to use and as long as you know what you're doing, very safe to play
around with, just don't make a mistake and allow the actual current from the
t coil to pass thro your body, while probably not able to kill you, it will
hurt quite badly and possibly cause other damage.
