You're talking about some serious power at that rating.
You might want to review some basic electronics as far as power is concerned.
If you will be drawing 500 mA at 15 kV, then that is 7500 watts. To get 7500 watts at 120 volts, you will need a primary current of at least
62.5 amps, not even accounting for primary, core, and secondary losses.
That's more than a standard wall outlet can supply (15 - 20 amps), and beyond the limit even for an electric oven circuit (typically 50 amps, though at 220 V).
You could get pretty close to that with an 8-stack of microwave oven transformers, which generally put out about 2 kV each at 500 mA, but they will have to be oil immersed, and you will probably need isolation transformers on the highest two transformers to prevent secondary to line breakdown. Previous posters on the list have described 6 stack (12 kV) MOT assemblies with performance pretty close to that of a 6-8 kVa pole pig, but not many have built 8 stack units to the best of my knowledge.
Projects of this scale are probably not the best choice for beginners.
Best to start with a neon sign transformer powered unit, and get an feel for high voltage behavior before graduating to really high powered circuits like you are proposing.
