That's the same thing Gerry was saying, remove the mains ground from the NST
and hook it up to RF ground. Is this the "standard" way everyone does it?

That is how I do it. RF ground goes to the NST case, center terminal
of safety gap, bottom of secondary and strike rail.

It's the way a vast majority do it, it's the most sensible way.
However, in coiling, there is no such thing as "The Way everyone does ANYTHING.
